Six of us headed down to Southern Ohio to what is said to be the longest cave in Ohio at some 2,300 feet. After a number of hours we located the parking area, changed into our cave gear and set off on foot to search for the cave.

After about an hour of our group being spread out and walking along the stream, Karen shouted to us that she felt cold air, which is oftentimes an indication of a cave entrance. Excitedly we jogged ahead to her location to check it out. Glenn forged ahead and soon we heard shouts of, “We found it”! At about 12 feet high it was quite a large entrance. A shallow, narrow stream runs through the entire cave. In only a couple of spots were we able to stand up straight.

Most of the couple hours we were in there was spent duck walking, stooped over walking or good old fashioned hands and knees crawling through the cold water passage. Don’t let the description fool you, though. The cave was pretty cool. We all had a great time. This was a fun day trip down.

The group of us that went was Bill, Gretchen, Glenn, Curt, Karen and myself.
